- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 1½ cups saltine crackers (crushed, ~1 sleeve)
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt & black pepper (to taste)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
- Creamy Gravy:
- 2 cans (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1½ cups whole milk
- Optional: sliced mushrooms, diced onion
- 1. Preheat oven 350°F. Grease 9×13″ baking dish.
- 2. Mix ground beef, crushed crackers, 1 cup milk, Italian seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, salt, pepper until just combined.
- 3. Shape into 8 oval patties (~¾” thick). Dredge lightly in flour.
- 4. Brown patties in hot skillet 3 mins per side. Transfer to baking dish.
- 5. Whisk cream of mushroom soup + 1½ cups milk until smooth. Pour over steaks.
- 6. Cover tightly with foil. Bake 35 mins until hot & bubbly.
- 7. Uncover, bake 10 mins more until edges browned.
- 8. Rest 10 mins. Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
