Amish Onion Fritters Recipe

  • 2 large sweet onions, finely diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 3/4 cup milk (or enough to form a batter)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • 2. Stir in the diced onions.
  • 3. Gradually add milk to form a thick batter.
  • 4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • 5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil.
  • 6. Cook 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
  • 7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • 8. Serve hot with dipping sauce of choice.
