  • Dough:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

  • Cheesecake Filling:
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Apple Filling:
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Crumble Topping:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Sweet Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • 1. Warm milk and dissolve yeast with a pinch of sugar; let sit until foamy.
  • 2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, milk mixture, melted butter, and egg. Knead until smooth.
  • 3. Cover and let dough rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • 4. Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • 5. In another bowl, combine apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
  • 6. Roll dough into a rectangle and cut into equal squares.
  • 7. Place a spoon of cheesecake filling and apple filling in the center of each piece.
  • 8. Pinch edges up to form buns and place seam-side down in a greased baking dish.
  • 9. Mix crumble topping ingredients until crumbly and sprinkle over buns.
  • 10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden.
  • 11. Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm buns before serving.

Notes

  • Use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for best flavor.
  • Buns can be made ahead and reheated gently.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated up to 3 days.
