- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 3 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- — Vanilla Glaze —
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. In a skillet, melt butter and cook apples with brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until tender (about 5–7 minutes). Cool slightly.
- 3. Place one puff pastry sheet on baking sheet. Spread apple filling down the center.
- 4. Top with second puff pastry sheet, sealing edges with a fork. Cut slits across the top for venting.
- 5. Brush with beaten egg for golden color.
- 6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until pastry is puffed and golden brown.
- 7. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
- 8. Drizzle glaze over cooled Kringle and slice to serve.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped pecans or walnuts to the apple filling.
- Best enjoyed warm with a cup of coffee or tea.
- You can prepare the apple filling ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
