Asparagus Gruyere Tart

A delightful dish featuring flaky puff pastry, creamy Gruyere cheese, and tender asparagus, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the sheet of puff pastry on a floured surface.
  3. Transfer the rolled pastry into the tart pan, pressing it down into the corners and edges.
  4. Prick the pastry lightly with a fork.
  5. Bake the pricked pastry for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
  6. Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  7. Spread the grated Gruyere cheese evenly over the baked pastry.
  8. Arrange the trimmed asparagus on top of the cheese.
  9. Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus and cheese.
  10. Drizzle with olive oil.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the egg is set and the top is golden brown.
  12. Cool for a few minutes before slicing to serve.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with a simple green salad or white wine.
