Banana Bread Recipe

Moist, soft, and perfectly sweet banana bread made with ripe bananas and warm vanilla. A classic, easy recipe that’s perfect for breakfast, snacks, or gifting.

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  • 2. In a large bowl, whisk mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  • 3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • 4. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until just combined — do not overmix.
  • 5. Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  • 6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • 7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • 8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For richest flavor, use overripe bananas with brown spots.
  • Add a sprinkle of coarse sugar on top before baking for a crunchy crust.
  • This banana bread freezes well for up to 3 months.
