Banana Bread Scones with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Glaze

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Combine the mashed bananas, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
  5. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Shape the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick on a floured surface.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the glaze by mixing together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a teaspoon of cinnamon, adding milk to reach desired consistency.
  10. Glaze the warm scones and serve.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. They can also be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
