  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Optional toppings: sliced pickles, cheddar cheese, green onions

Instructions

  • 1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • 2. Add diced onion and bell pepper; sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  • 3. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • 4. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • 5. Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
  • 6. Pour in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar.
  • 7. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened and saucy.
  • 8. Spoon mixture onto toasted buns and top with cheese or pickles if desired.
  • 9. Serve warm with fries or coleslaw.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or beef instead of chicken if preferred.
  • Adjust spice level by reducing or increasing Cajun seasoning.
