Cheesy Meatball Subs

Savory meatballs, rich marinara sauce, and gooey melted cheese packed into a soft hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Form small meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Bake the meatballs on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Heat the marinara sauce over low to medium heat in a saucepan.
  6. Combine the cooked meatballs with the marinara sauce.
  7. Prepare the hoagie rolls by slicing them open lengthwise.
  8. Assemble the subs with meatballs and marinara sauce.
  9. Add shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  10. Melt the cheese under the broiler for 2-3 minutes.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.

Notes

Serve with chips or salad. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
