Chocolate Turkeys Out of Strawberries

Chocolate Turkeys made out of strawberries are a fun and festive Thanksgiving treat! Juicy strawberries are dipped in chocolate and decorated with candy to look like adorable little turkeys perfect for holiday dessert tables or kid-friendly projects.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 fresh strawberries, washed and dried
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (optional, for smoother dipping)
  • 24 candy eyes
  • 12 candy corn pieces (for beaks)
  • 12 mini orange or red M&M’s (for wattles)
  • Mini pretzel sticks or chocolate wafers (for feathers)
  • Optional: white chocolate for drizzling or detail work

Instructions

  • 1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2. Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil together in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • 3. Dip each strawberry into melted chocolate, covering completely. Let excess drip off.
  • 4. Place strawberries on prepared sheet and chill for 10–15 minutes until set.
  • 5. Once firm, use a small amount of melted chocolate to attach candy eyes, candy corn beaks, and M&M wattles to the front of each strawberry.
  • 6. For feathers, break pretzel sticks in half and gently insert 3–4 pieces into the top of each strawberry (or attach chocolate wafer pieces with melted chocolate).
  • 7. Optional: drizzle white chocolate for extra detail or texture.
  • 8. Refrigerate until serving to keep decorations set and chocolate firm.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • You can use candy melts in festive fall colors (orange, yellow, brown) for variety.
  • Store in the fridge up to 24 hours; best enjoyed the same day.
  • Perfect as a Thanksgiving centerpiece or fun edible craft for kids!
