Churro Stuffed French Toast

Decadent French toast stuffed with a sweet cream filling, coated in buttery cinnamon sugar for that perfect churro flavor.

  • 8 thick slices brioche or challah bread
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter, for cooking
  • For the coating:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  • 1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
  • 2. Spread the cream cheese mixture on 4 slices of bread and top with remaining slices to make sandwiches.
  • 3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and vanilla.
  • 4. Dip each stuffed sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
  • 5. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a little butter.
  • 6. Cook each sandwich 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  • 7. In a shallow bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon for coating.
  • 8. Brush cooked French toast with melted butter, then roll in cinnamon sugar.
  • 9. Slice and serve warm with syrup, caramel drizzle, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for the best texture it soaks the custard without getting soggy.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor.
  • Top with fresh berries or dulce de leche for a dessert-style twist.
