  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 10 cups water
  • 2/3 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (for coating)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • 1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • 2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter; mix until dough forms.
  • 3. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth, then let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  • 4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment.
  • 5. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot.
  • 6. Divide dough into 8 pieces, roll each into a rope, and shape into pretzels.
  • 7. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then place on baking sheet.
  • 8. Bake 10–12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9. Brush warm pretzels with melted butter and toss in cinnamon sugar mixture.

Notes

  • Serve warm for best flavor.
  • You can drizzle with caramel or cream cheese icing for extra indulgence.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat briefly before serving.
