Creamed Corn Thanksgiving Recipe

A rich and creamy creamed corn dish that’s perfect for Thanksgiving or any cozy dinner. Sweet corn is cooked in a buttery cream sauce, seasoned just right, and topped with a hint of nutmeg.

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional for extra sweetness)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • 1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • 2. Add corn and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • 3. Stir in heavy cream, milk, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and sugar if using.
  • 4. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes until corn is tender and sauce is creamy.
  • 5. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • 6. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
  • 7. Serve warm as a side dish for Thanksgiving or dinner.

Notes

  • Use fresh corn for the best flavor, frozen works fine too.
  • For a thicker sauce, mash some corn kernels slightly.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
