Delicious Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes

A zesty twist on the classic Sloppy Joes, combining ground chicken with Cajun spices for a flavorful meal.

  • 1 lb ground chicken or finely diced cooked chicken breast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 4 brioche hamburger buns, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • Fresh chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the chopped onion and diced red bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute!
  4. Cook the ground chicken or diced chicken until no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Season with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  6. Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and chicken broth; stir to combine.
  7. Simmer the mixture over low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Prepare the toasted buns until golden brown.
  9. Assemble the Sloppy Joes by spooning the chicken mixture onto each bun and topping with cheese.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
