Easy Bunuelos Recipe

Easy buñuelos are light, crispy fried dough balls coated in cinnamon sugar. A classic Latin treat that’s quick to make and perfect for holidays, parties, or an indulgent dessert.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • For coating:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • 1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  • 2. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; mix until a smooth batter forms.
  • 3. Heat oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F (175°C).
  • 4. Drop small spoonfuls of batter carefully into hot oil.
  • 5. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and puffed.
  • 6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • 7. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and roll warm buñuelos in the mixture.
  • 8. Serve warm.

  • Keep oil temperature steady for even cooking.
  • Drizzle with honey or syrup for extra sweetness.
