Easy Garlic Naan Bread Recipe

Soft, fluffy homemade garlic naan bread cooked in a skillet and brushed with buttery garlic goodness. Easy to make, no oven required, and perfect with curries, soups, or dips.

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Garlic Butter:
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or cilantro

Instructions

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • 2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • 3. Add yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • 4. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  • 5. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • 6. Divide dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each into an oval shape.
  • 7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • 8. Cook naan 1–2 minutes per side until bubbles form and golden spots appear.
  • 9. Mix melted butter and garlic, then brush over hot naan.
  • 10. Sprinkle with parsley or cilantro and serve warm.

Notes

  • No yeast version can be made using baking powder instead.
  • Store leftovers wrapped at room temperature for 1 day or refrigerate up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a skillet or microwave before serving.
