Golden Angel Food Cupcakes

Light, fluffy, and delightful cupcakes perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups egg whites (about 1012 large eggs)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour and half of the sugar.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until they become foamy, then add the cream of tartar and salt. Keep beating until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the remaining sugar while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold in the flour mixture in batches, along with the vanilla and almond extracts.
  6. Pour the batter into cupcake liners, filling them about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, let the cupcakes cool upside down in the pan.

Notes

Serve plain or with powdered sugar, fresh fruit, or frosting. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
