Golden Greek Honey Pie

A delightful Greek dessert featuring layers of crispy phyllo dough filled with creamy semolina, spices, and drizzled with honey.

  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semolina flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup honey, warmed
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with some of the melted butter.
  3. Layer one sheet of phyllo in the dish, brush with butter, and repeat with 6 more sheets.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together semolina flour, eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  5. Pour the semolina mixture over the phyllo base evenly.
  6. Layer the final phyllo sheet on top, brushing with butter, and lightly score the surface.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and set.
  8. Let cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle with warmed honey and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  9. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
