Gram Flour Pancakes (Besan Chilla)

Delicious and nutritious gram flour pancakes made with spices, vegetables, and paneer. Perfect for breakfast or a light snack.

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 cup grated paneer
  • 1/4 cup chopped vegetables (like bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes)
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prepare the batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the besan, water, salt, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Add mix-ins: Stir in the grated paneer and chopped vegetables.
  3. Heat the skillet: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  4. Cook the pancakes: Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet and spread it thin. Cook until edges lift and the bottom is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Flip the pancake: Carefully flip it and cook the other side for another 2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adding more oil if needed.
  7. Serve hot with chutney or yogurt on the side.
