Homemade Orange Candy Recipe

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: orange food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  • 1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly dust with powdered sugar.
  • 2. In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, orange zest, and orange juice.
  • 3. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • 4. Attach a candy thermometer; boil without stirring until temperature reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  • 5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring if using.
  • 6. Pour mixture onto prepared sheet.
  • 7. Let cool completely, then break into pieces and dust with powdered sugar.
