- 4 large egg whites (room temperature)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tbsp Jello gelatin powder (any flavor)
- ½ tsp cream of tartar
- Dash salt
- Optional: Sprinkles or mini chocolate chips
- 1. Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In clean glass or metal bowl, beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt on medium speed until foamy and soft peaks form.
- 3. Gradually add sugar 1 tbsp at a time while beating on high speed. After all sugar added, beat in Jello powder until stiff glossy peaks form (5-7 minutes total).
- 4. Pipe 1½-inch rosettes using piping bag with 1M tip, or drop by tablespoons. Add sprinkles if desired.
- 5. Bake 1 hour until dry and crisp outside. Turn off oven, leave door closed, cool completely inside (2+ hours).
Notes
- Room temperature egg whites whip highest volume; cold whites weep.
- Metal/glass bowl essential plastic holds grease preventing peaks.
- Add sugar slowly or meringue collapses; stiff peaks = meringue holds straight peak.
- No-bake humidity killer make on dry sunny days.
- Store airtight up to 1 week. Colors/flavors intensify after 24 hours.
