Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles Recipe

  • 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  • 1. Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • 2. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
  • 3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • 4. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • 5. In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and water.
  • 6. Pour sauce into skillet and bring to a gentle simmer until thickened.
  • 7. Add cooked noodles and toss until evenly coated.
  • 8. Season with black pepper and red pepper flakes if using.
  • 9. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use rice noodles or ramen if preferred.
  • Add broccoli or snap peas for extra veggies.
  • Leftovers reheat well with a splash of broth.
