- 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- 1. Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- 2. In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat.
- 3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
- 4. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
- 5. In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and water.
- 6. Pour sauce into skillet and bring to a gentle simmer until thickened.
- 7. Add cooked noodles and toss until evenly coated.
- 8. Season with black pepper and red pepper flakes if using.
- 9. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.
