  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25-ounce)
  • 4 large eggs (divided)
  • 1 pound powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature or microwaving in 15-second bursts until soft.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper.
  4. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts until melted.
  5. Mix the yellow cake mix and 2 large eggs into the melted butter until smooth.
  6. Prepare the cream cheese layer by beating the softened cream cheese, remaining 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Combine layers by pouring the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter.
  8. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until edges are golden and center is slightly jiggly.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into 24 pieces.
