Pan Seared Steak with Garlic Butter

A rich and satisfying pan-seared steak elevated with garlic butter, perfect for any special occasion or cozy dinner.

  • 2 ribeye steaks
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary), optional

Instructions

  1. Prepare the steaks by removing them from the refrigerator and letting them sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a heavy skillet over high heat. Add the olive oil and wait until it begins to smoke slightly.
  3. Sear the seasoned steaks in the skillet without moving them for 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  4. Add the unsalted butter and minced garlic to the pan during the last minute of cooking, allowing the butter to melt and infuse the garlic flavor.
  5. Baste the steaks by tilting the skillet and spooning the melted butter over the meat.
  6. Rest the steaks on a cutting board for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  7. Serve optionally topped with fresh herbs before slicing and enjoying with your favorite sides.

Notes

Allow the steak to rest for better texture and flavor. Use a meat thermometer for preferred doneness.
