- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp rose water
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp rose water
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 3. Beat in egg, vanilla extract, rose water, and red food coloring.
- 4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until dough forms.
- 6. Scoop small portions of dough and roll into balls; place on baking sheet and flatten slightly.
- 7. Bake for 9–11 minutes until set; cool completely.
- 8. For the filling, beat butter until smooth, then add powdered sugar, vanilla, rose water, and milk until creamy.
- 9. Spread filling onto half the cookies and sandwich with remaining cookies.
Notes
- Rose water is strong use sparingly and adjust to taste.
- Chill cookies briefly before filling for cleaner sandwiching.
