  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp softened butter
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • 1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • 2. Add melted butter, egg, cocoa powder, red food coloring, and salt; mix well.
  • 3. Gradually add flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • 4. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  • 6. Roll dough into a rectangle.
  • 7. Spread softened butter over dough.
  • 8. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over butter.
  • 9. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
  • 10. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
  • 11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–25 minutes until baked through.
  • 12. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • 13. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve.
