Southern Banana Cobbler is a warm, buttery dessert bursting with caramelized bananas and a golden, cake-like crust a true Southern comfort treat.

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Brown sugar for topping (optional)

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • 2. Pour melted butter into the bottom of a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  • 3. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  • 4. Pour batter evenly over the melted butter (do not stir).
  • 5. Layer banana slices evenly over the batter.
  • 6. Sprinkle brown sugar on top for extra caramel flavor.
  • 7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
  • 8. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of nutmeg or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
  • Use slightly overripe bananas for a sweeter cobbler.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven for best texture.
