Strawberry Danish

Flaky, golden puff pastry filled with creamy vanilla cream cheese and sweet strawberries a simple yet elegant breakfast or dessert treat!

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or fresh strawberry slices
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Optional: lemon zest for brightness

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • 3. Roll out puff pastry and cut into 6 squares.
  • 4. Spoon a small amount of cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
  • 5. Add a spoonful of strawberry jam or fresh sliced strawberries on top.
  • 6. Fold or twist corners toward the center to form a Danish shape.
  • 7. Brush edges with beaten egg.
  • 8. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • 9. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute strawberry jam with raspberry or blueberry jam.
  • For extra shine, brush baked pastries with warm apricot glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
