- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- For the honey pepper sauce:
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1. Marinate chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- 2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- 3. Dredge marinated chicken in the flour mixture, coating well.
- 4. Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry chicken until golden and crispy, about 5–6 minutes per batch.
- 5. In a small saucepan, melt butter, then stir in honey, soy sauce, vinegar, black pepper, and chili flakes.
- 6. Simmer the sauce for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 7. Toss fried chicken in the honey pepper sauce until coated evenly.
- 8. Serve immediately with rice, mashed potatoes, or a side salad.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
- Bake or air fry the chicken for a lighter version.
