Sweet Potato Dumplings With Maple Brown Butter

  • 1 (8 oz) tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large sweet potato, cooked and mashed
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Chopped pecans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • 2. In a small bowl, combine mashed sweet potato, 2 tbsp brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • 3. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles.
  • 4. Place a spoonful of sweet potato filling on each triangle, roll up, and pinch edges to seal.
  • 5. Arrange dumplings in the prepared baking dish.
  • 6. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and nutty in aroma.
  • 7. Remove from heat and stir in maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
  • 8. Pour the sauce evenly over the dumplings.
  • 9. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  • 10. Serve warm, topped with chopped pecans or a drizzle of extra maple syrup.
