TEXAS ROADHOUSE ROLLS

Soft, buttery, and slightly sweet these copycat Texas Roadhouse Rolls taste just like the restaurant favorite and pair perfectly with cinnamon honey butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 100°F / 38°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 1/24 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • Extra butter for brushing

Instructions

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine yeast, warm water, and 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, add warm milk, remaining sugar, softened butter, salt, and egg. Mix until combined.
  • 3. Add activated yeast mixture to the bowl.
  • 4. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  • 5. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 6. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • 7. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick.
  • 8. Cut into 2-inch squares and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • 9. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  • 10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 11. Brush warm rolls with melted butter and serve with cinnamon honey butter.

Notes

  • Make the cinnamon honey butter by mixing 1/2 cup butter, 1/4 cup honey, and 1 tsp cinnamon until smooth.
  • For extra flavor, brush rolls with honey butter right after baking.
  • You can freeze the baked rolls or refrigerate the dough overnight before baking.
