  • 1 tsp sugar (to balance acidity)
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil (or 1 tbsp fresh)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • 1. Heat olive oil or butter in a pot over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until soft.
  • 2. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • 3. Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen flavor.
  • 4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and broth; stir well.
