Homemade Vanilla Wafers

Delicious and versatile homemade vanilla wafers, perfect for snacking or as a dessert base.

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare your baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone liners.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cream the butter and vanilla bean paste or extract together.
  5. Add the granulated sugar gradually and mix until light and fluffy.
  6. Incorporate the egg and heavy cream, beating until fully combined.
  7. Combine the flour mixture with the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
  8. Shape the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared sheets.
  9. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool on wire racks for about 5 minutes before transferring to cool completely.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better results and don’t overmix to avoid tough cookies.
