  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  3. Mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  5. Incorporate the boiling water, carefully stirring it into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Prepare the frosting by beating softened butter until creamy, then adding cocoa powder and powdered sugar alternately with milk until smooth.
  10. Frost the first cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
