Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ½ (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • ½ cup butter, cut into 8 pieces
  • 3 eggs, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. Melt the semisweet chocolate and butter together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously until smooth.
  3. Cool the mixture slightly to prevent cooking the eggs.
  4. Mix the eggs and white sugar in a bowl until smooth and slightly frothy.
  5. Combine the cooled chocolate mixture with the egg and sugar mixture.
  6. Add the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and fold gently until just combined.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  9. Cool in the pan for a while before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares.

Notes

For added flavor, serve warm brownies with vanilla ice cream or drizzled with chocolate sauce.
