- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup hot coffee or water
- 1 batch chocolate frosting
- 12 chocolate sugar cones
- 12 chocolate wafer cookies
- Colored sprinkles or candy for decoration
- Edible glitter or green frosting for accents
- 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- 2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugars, baking soda, and salt.
- 3. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
- 4. Stir in hot coffee or water until batter is thin and glossy.
- 5. Fill liners two-thirds full and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- 6. Cool completely before frosting.
- 7. To make the witch hats, fill each sugar cone with a bit of frosting, then press it onto a chocolate wafer cookie to form the hat.
- 8. Frost each cupcake, then top with a witch hat and decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter.
