Gordon Ramsay’s Shepherd’s Pie

A classic Shepherd’s Pie combining ground meat and vegetables, topped with creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for a cozy family meal.

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add your choice of ground lamb or beef and cook until browned.
  5. Mix in the diced carrots and frozen peas, then add tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish.
  9. Top with mashed potatoes, covering the surface evenly.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  11. Cool before serving and enjoy!

Notes

For a crispy topping, broil the Shepherd’s Pie for a few minutes at the end of baking. Customize vegetables based on your preference.
