Homemade Apple Pie Filling

A delightful homemade apple pie filling that captures the taste of fall, perfect for pies, crisps, and as a topping.

  • 4 cups fresh apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling and slicing them.
  2. Combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch in a saucepan.
  3. Add lemon juice and water to the mixture.
  4. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5 to 10 minutes until apples are tender.
  5. Cool the filling completely before using.

Notes
