Homemade Orange Ice Cream

Refreshing homemade orange ice cream that combines sweet and tangy flavors, perfect for summer.

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup orange juice (fresh squeezed from about 3 oranges)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange extract
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl: Add heavy whipping cream, sugar, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
  2. Add milk and extracts: Stir in whole milk, orange extract, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Incorporate color (optional): Add orange food coloring and mix until evenly distributed.
  4. Churn the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually for about 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Freeze the ice cream: Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for 4 to 6 hours or overnight to harden.
  6. Serve when ready: Let it sit for a few minutes at room temperature to soften before scooping.
